Trip of Holiday Customs & An Authentic Bedouin Meal in Nahal Tzipori
Dates and Times
Collaboration for the Winter Festival! Dr. Shelley Anne Peleg and Wefqi Salamna, the owners of the project Galilean “Madafaā€¯ in Ka’abiyye invite you before the holidays, Hanukkah and Christmas, to a special meeting. Hear about the Sanhedrin of the Galilee, the way of the Christian pilgrims, and the hospitality customs of the Bedouins.
We will start with a short route on the beautiful boardwalk in Nahal Tzipori, between the settlements of Ras Ali (a Bedouin settlement) and Harduf (an anthroposophical settlement), we will pass through orchards and agricultural fields where you can still see traditional agriculture. We will get to know the monks’ mill, which used to be a flour mill, and where the Carmelites lived. We will continue from there to Ein Yveke, also known as the Eye of the Horses (a large and shallow pool of water from the Roman period that concentrated the spring water and led it in its mouth to the flour mill).
We will end with an experiential visit to Galilean “Madafaā€¯, a traditional Bedouin accommodation in Ka’abiyye. By the fireplace, Wefqi will tell us about the Bedouin culture and the history of the village. We will be impressed by the collection of authentic Bedouin clothes that decorate the complex, we will eat a Bedouin meal from his home kitchen (vegetarian) and participate in the traditional coffee ceremony.
