Workshop For Making A Special Glass & Marble Menorah at the Aravotart StudioSat | Dec 20
Dates and Times
Ariel Aravot, an extraordinary glass artist who lives and creates in Yuvalim, invites you to a workshop to create a unique menorah that combines glass and marble. At the end, you will leave with a large, designed, decorated and one-of-a-kind menorah, the fruit of your own personal creation.
In this special workshop, we will create unique and original menorahs that combine two materials with local roots – glass and marble. The heavy and opaque marble will form a stable base, and on top of it will stand a transparent and airy glass menorah, which will give a feeling of lightness and light.
We will open the workshop with a pleasant introduction and a brief explanation of the glass artist’s work.
Then we will get to know the materials that will be available to us: different types of marble slabs and glass rings cut from various bottles.
Stages of Creation:
- Planning & Design – participants will receive sheets of paper and pencils to sketch ideas, choose the size of the menorah (between 35 and 70 cm) and decide on the decorations to be added.
- Initial arrangement – we will place the glass rings on the marble slab, be impressed by the result and make changes if we wish.
- Creating the Decorations – we will burn the rings and create inscriptions (For example: “Menorah”, “Happy Holidays”, “With Love” – up to 18 letters) and/or symbols such as a heart, Star of David, star, flower, and more. The burning process includes the location of the decoration, demarcation, application of burning paste, rinsing with water, peeling and drying each ring.
- Final Assembly – we will place the rings on the marble slab and glue them in place using a special glue.
At the end, you will leave with a large or extra large Menorah – designed, decorated and one-of-a-kind, the fruit of your own personal creation.
