There are plenty of fun and exciting ways to experience Jerusalem on a shoestring budget. You won’t feel like you’re missing out since many of the city’s highlights are free or are extremely affordable.

When it comes to budget-friendly accommodation, the city of Jerusalem has plenty with an array of hostels and guest houses to choose from. Most of the major hostels are located in the city center or Old City.

One of the most authentic and delicious ways to experience local cuisine is to dine at market eateries. The Old City has a number of top hummus and Middle Eastern establishments, and the small stalls in and around Mahane Yehuda market offer some of the finest ethnic and traditional cuisine in the country. If you prefer to go on an organized tour rather than meander about aimlessly, don’t miss out on the weekly Free Saturday Tours of the Old City as well as other important attractions around the city. The enriching tours are three hours in duration and depart from Safra Square.

There are a few affordable ways to get around the city of Jerusalem. The first is by foot – one of the best ways to discover the city’s nooks and crannies. Or, you can navigate quite easily and affordably using the city’s bus and light rail network.
